REYES VS JOYNER - 2007 DERBY ONE POCKET
FINALS. Efren Reyes and Cliff Joyner are considered by most players to be two of the best One Pocket players on the planet. Unfortunately for Joyner, Reyes continues his incredible show of excellence and wins this championship match 3-1. Bill Incardona and Danny D. share their insights and knowledge from the glass booth.
OWEN VS NEVEL - 2008 DERBY ONE POCKET
FINALS. Gabe Owen and Larry Nevel battle it out in this final match of the tournament with Owen winning with a score of 3-2. This 180 minute match is a showdown between Owen’s patience and Nevel’s powerhouse game. Owen waited and when his opportunity came, he rode it to the championship. Great commentating by Bill Incardona and Danny Diliberto.
JONES VS REYES - 2009 DERBY ONE POCKET
Efren Reyes was probably the favorite, but Jeremy Jones refused to go along with that program. Using his hand-on-the-butt big stroke he took this 110 minute match with a show of power and an impressive score of 3-1. Danny Diliberto and Mark Wilson opine and instruct.
MOUGEY VS JOYNER - 2010 DERBY ONE POCKET
It took 112 minutes but Tony Mougey finally triumped over Cliff Joyner to win this match with an upset score of 3-2. Although he may be new to the Derby City cameras, he’s definitely no stranger to the game of One Pocket. Danny Diliberto and Mark Wilson commentate.
FROST VS OCHOA - 2010 DERBY ONE POCKET
FINALS. Sylver Ochoa can certainly play One Pocket, but Scott Frost was just too hot. He won this hill-hill finals match with a score of 3-2. Bill Incardona and Danny Diliberto watched from the glass booth and added their observations to this exciting 156 minute match.
BRUMBACK VS PARICA - 2011 DERBY ONE POCKET
When two One Pocket champions like John Brumback and Jose Parica match up for a race to three and take 180 minutes to complete it, you know you’re going to learn a few shots and moves. Commentators DM and BG hang in until Brumback finally puts it away with a score of 3-1.
VAN BOENING VS STRICTLAND - 2011 DERBY ONE POCKET
FINALS. Shane Van Boening and Earl Strictland are both great shot makers and aggressive players who can make it look easy. In this finals match both players get to the hill in 75 minutes. Shane wins it 3-2 and Earl proves he can play One Pocket. Danny D. and Bill Incardona commentate.
CEULEMANS VS TASDEMIR - 2003 LAS VEGAS WORLD CUP
This 147 minute 3-Cushion match features the legendary Raymond Ceulemans and Turkey’s #2 player, Tayfun Tasdemir. It’s a nail-biter, with the Hall-of-Famer finally beating Tasdemir 61 to 53. Robert Byrne and Mike Shamos provide expert commentary.
SANCHEZ VS BLOMDAHL - 2003 LAS VEGAS WORLD CUP
Daniel Sanchez of Spain posts a 2.647, the highest average of this 3-Cushion event. That was enough to take Torbjorn Blomdahl, the pre-tournament favorite, down with a loss of three games in a row. This 81 minute match ended with a 45-26 score and was commented on by Allen Gilbert and Norm Lofgren.
SAYGINER VS CAUDRON - 2003 LAS VEGAS WORLD CUP
After losing the first two races to 15 points, Semih Sayginer dug deep and took the next three. He won with an overall point total of 64 to Frederic Caudron’s 51 and that was enough to advance to the semi-finals. Hosted by Robert Byrne and guest Walt Harris. 124 minutes.
SAYGINER VS SANCHEZ - 2003 LAS VEGAS WORLD CUP
SEMI-FINALS. This 125 minute Three-Cushion match see-sawed back and forth until Semih Sayginer took the lead from Daniel Sanchez in the last few minutes. He held on to win 50-48 which was the closest score of the event. Hosted by Robert Byrne and guest TR.
JASPERS VS ZANETTI - 2003 LAS VEGAS WORLD CUP
SEMI-FINALS. In this nail-biter of a match. Dick Jaspers ousts Italy’s Marco Zanetti, the current world Champion, with just six seconds to spare. He wins the 156 minute match with a score of 57-50 and earns a spot in the finals. Commentary by Robert Byrne and Mike Shamos.
SAYGINER VS JASPERS - 2003 LAS VEGAS WORLD CUP
FINALS. Semih Sayginer posted an impressive average of 2.000 in his 3-1 win over Dick Jaspers for the 2003 3-Cushion World Cup Championship. Jaspers had a respectable 1.730 average in this 146 minute contest, but had to settle for second place. Byrne’s guest for the finals was Torbjorn Blomdahl, who revealed some tasty 3-cushion secrets.
LEE VS BURGMAN - 1999 CONLON WORLD CUP
SEMI-FINALS. In this 3-Cushion match Raimond Burgman ran 15 points from the break against the great Sang Chun Lee. This earned him a standing ovation and $2500 even though he ended up losing the match with a score of 45-37. Robert Byrne and CH commented during this 150 minute match.
LEE VS SAYGINER - 1999 CONLON WORLD CUP
FINALS. In this 3-Cushion match Sang Chun Lee is down 30 to 10 with Semih Sayginer when he pours on the come-from-behind to take the championship 55-50. Torbjorn Blomdahl is Robert Byrne’s guest in the booth and hearing his advice makes this DVD a must have. 126 minutes.
McCREADY VS HALL - 2003 US OPEN 9-BALL
This entertaining 105 minute match between veterans Keith McCready and Buddy Hall doesn’t showcase the highest pocketing average of the tournament. But the fight-to-the-hill score, the personalities and the overall suspense make it a keeper. Keith wins 11-10 and the fine commentary is from Jim Wych and Bill Incardona.
BUSTAMANTE VS REYES - 2003 US OPEN 9-BALL
The two most feared Filipino pool players of the era battle it out to the very end. Efren Reyes lands on top in the last game, winning over Francisco Bustamante 11-10. This 105 minute match is a fine exhibition of world-class pool. Commentary by Jim Wych and Bill Incardona.
VAN BOENING VS ALCANO - 2007 US OPEN 9-BALL
FINALS. This is a great match with both players shooting at a very high clip. Ronnie Alcano started off with a bang that left Shane Van Boening appearing a bit stunned. But the crowd was on his side and amidst the cheering and cries of support, Shane bore down and took the win with a score of 13-10. It was a full house in the expert booth with Danny D, Jay Helfert and Jim Wych on the job. 120 minutes.
IMMONEN VS MILLS - 2009 US OPEN 9-BALL
SEMI-FINALS. Florida’s Donny Mills drew a lot of spectators during this US Open with his athletic, fast-shooting style. Coming from a tough hill-hill match which he lost to Ralf Souquet, he fought his way in this match to the hill where he faltered again, losing to Mika Immonen 10-11. Jim Wych and Danny D. provide the commentary. 113 minutes.
IMMONEN VS SOUQUET - 2009 US OPEN 9-BALL
FINALS. This race to 13 ends with Mika Immonen winning the championship for the second year in a row, besting Ralf Souquet 13 to 10. It was tied at 10-10, but Mika played without mercy, squashing Ralf’s chance to win his second US Open crown. Jim Wych and Danny Diliberto entertain and talk shop. 172 minutes.
REYES VS MURPHY - 2010 DERBY CITY 9-BALL
SEMI-FINALS. Shannon Murphy got past all but a couple of the 257 entries in this tournament, but he didn't get by Efren Reyes, who has won the Derby City all-around “Master of the Table” four times. Oops…he won it again this year, so make that five! Murphy took it to the hill 7-6 and that says a lot about him. A great 82 minute match monitored by Danny Diliberto and Bill Gibbs.
ARCHER VS ORCULLO - 2010 US OPEN 9-BALL
Filipino player Dennis Orcullo took an early lead that most viewers thought would be impossible to overcome. But Johnny Archer, always a champion, did exactly what was necessary. He kept his game together and started piling up the wins, finally wrapping it up at 11-9. Jim Wych and Danny Diliberto were on the microphones throughout. 100 minutes.
APPLETON VS DEUEL - 2010 US OPEN 9-BALL
FINALS. The win-by-two games format of this finals match forced a long, 180 minute battle. Darren Appleton, the British bar box gambler proved he has made the jump to big-table mastery completely. He took the championship away from disappointed Corey Deuel 15 to 13. The professional commentary was provided by Jim Wych, Bill Incardona and Danny Diliberto.
